Northampton (Norhampton) was given a grant of murage dated 3/10/1400.

This was in the form of:-

Grant to the burgesses and good men of the town of Norhampton of murage for two years.

Grant to the burgesses and good men of Northampton of murage for 2 years, to be levied on saleable articles coming to the town, viz.:
for every load of corn for sale 1/4d.;
for every horse, mare, ox or cow for sale 1/2d.;
for 2 hides of horse, mare, ox or cow, fresh, salted or tanned, for sale 1/4d.;
for 5 hogs for sale 1/4d.;
for every fresh salmon for sale 1/4d.;
for 3 salted salmons 1/4d.;
for every fresh lamprey for sale 1/4d.;
for 3 salted lampreys for sale 1/4d.;
for 6 sheep for sale 1/2d.;
for 2 pigs for sale 1/4d.;
for every 100 of skins of lambs, kids, hares, rabbits, foxes, cats and squirrels for sale 1/2d.;
for every hundred of grey work/badger skins 2d.;
for every great load of cloth for sale 1d.;
for every entire cloth 1/2d.;
for every 100 of linen canvas cloth of Ireland, Galway worsted and Kendal for sale 1d.;
for every worsted cloth called coverlet with {…} for sale 1/2d.;
for every cloth of silk mixed with gold, samite, diapre and baudekyn for sale 1/2d.;
