Bayonne was given a grant of murage dated 15/4/1244.

This was in the form of:-

Wording
Grant to the mayor and jurats of the commune of Bayonne of 300 marks in aid of the walling of their town, which the king will pay at the exchequer of Michaelmas.

Granted by Henry III. (Regnal year 28). Granted at Windsor.
