Many references to Gascon merchants of these names in C13/C14 (http://www.art-science.com/Ken/Genealogy/PD/ch32_13C_merchants.html) and to knights serving in Hundred Years War (http://www.art-science.com/Ken/Genealogy/PD/ch27_100years_war.html). The genealogy is indecipherable complex.
An Amanevus de Fossato was called knight banneret and given 200 marks for military service in 15 Edw III (Nat. Arch. E 43/265)
Fourcès, in Gers, a bastide of circular design, a gateway survives. The medieval castle is said to have been in the centre of the village (if so it can only have been a tower - possibly on an earlier motte) but was demolished in 1488.
The castles and towns of Amanevus and Arnaldus were crenellated by custom, licence not being required 'licencia a nobis super hoc non requisita'
