Hereford was given a grant of murage dated 25/10/1271.

This was in the form of:-

Wording
Grant to the bailiffs and good men of Hereford, at the instance of Richard de Hereford, king's clerk, of murage for five years from the Purification next, to be applied in the work by the counsel of the said Richard and those whom he shall depute.

Granted by Henry III. (Regnal year 55). Granted at Westminster.
