Radnor (Radenouere) was given a grant of murage dated 12/7/1283.

This was in the form of:-

Grant to the bailiffs and good men of Radenouere, at the instance of Matilda de Mortuo Mari, their lady, of murage for seven years.

Concerning the murage of Radenouer. The King to the bailiffs and good men of Radenouere, Greetings.Be it known that at the instance of our beloved Matilda de Mortimer, your lady, we have granted to you in aid of of the enclosing of your said town for the securing and girding of the same and the parts adjacent that from the day of the making hereof unto the end of seven full years next the underwritten dues, to wit:
from each cart carrying cloth 2d;
from each seam of cloth 1d;
from each cask of wine 2d;
from each cart carrying wool 4d;
from each seam of wool 1d;
from each cart-load of honey 2d;
from each seam of honey 1d;
from each cart-load of iron 2d;
from each seam of iron 1d;
from each cart-load of sea-fish 2d;
from each seam of the same fish one halfpenny;
from each cart-load of corn 1d;
from each seam of corn one halfpenny;
from each cart-load of bread 1d;
from each seam of bread one (blank);
from each cart carrying ox- or horse-hides 2d;
from each seam of the same hides one halfpenny;
from each cart-load of salt 1d;
from each seam of salt one farthing;
from each seam of buck- sheep- or lamb- skins 1d;
from each seam of meal one halfpenny;
from each seam of woad one halfpenny;
from each seam of apples, pears or nuts one farthing;
from each man-load of corn one farthing;
from each horse or mare, ox or cow, one halfpenny;
from ten sheep or ewes 1d;
from six goats 1d;
from four pigs 1d;
from each seam of linen cloth 1d;
from each man-load of the same cloth one halfpenny;
from forty fox- or squirrel-skins 1d;
and from twenty fox- or suirrel-skins one halfpenny.
Wherefore we order that you take those dues as aforesaid for the stated time, that term being complete those dues shall cease utterly and be void.
Witness by the King at Kaernarvan the twelfth day of July.

Comments
Some of the quantities here named are vague, the usual word being 'carecta', a cart or cart-load. The smaller load, here rendered as 'seam', is the latin 'summagium', a sumpter-horse or pack horse load. It may be inferred that the cart-load was double the size of the seam. (Cole)
