Kilkenny was given a grant of murage dated 8/6/1306.

This was in the form of:-

Grant to the mayor, bailiffs, and good men of the town of Kilkenny, at the instance of Ralph de Monte Hermerii, earl of Hertford and Gloucester, of murage for five years. By K. on the information of R. de Cotyngham.

Grant to the mayor, bailiffs, and goodmen of Kilkenny, at the instance of Ralph de Monthermer, Earl of Gloucester and Hertford, in aid of inclosing their vill, for the greater security thereof and of parts adjacent, that from the making of these presents to the end of 5 years they may tae the following customs, to wit,
for each summage of corn of whatsoever kind, or of malt, for sale, one farthing;
for each horse or mare, or ox or cow, for sale, 1/2d.;
for each hide of horse or mare, ox or cow, fresh, salt, or tanned, 1/4d.;
5, hogs 1/2d.;
10 gammons, 1/2d.;
10 sheep, goats, or hogs, 1d.;
10 fleeces, 1/2d.;
each hundred of woolfels and goat skins, 1d.;
each one hundred skins of lambs, kids, hares, rabbits, foxes, cats, and squirrels, 1/2d.;
one hundred of badger work, 6d.;
each quarter of salt, 1/4d.;
each summage of cloth, 3d.;
each entire cloth of the value of 40s., 1/2d.;
each truss of cloth brought by cart, 3d.;
each hundred of cloths of worsted, 2d.;
each hundred of linen cloth of Aylesham, 1/2d.;
each chief of stronger sandal, asforciatus, and of other sandal wood, 1/2d.;
each hundred of stockfish or Narob fish, 2d.;
each cart load of sea-fish sold, 4d.;
each summage of sea-fish sold, 1/2d.;
each salmon sold, 1/4d.;
each each dozen of lampreys, 1d.;
each thousand herrings sold, 1/4d.;
each summage of cinders sold, 1/2d.;
each summage of honey sold, 1d.;
each weigh of tallow and grease, 1d.;
each quarter of wood, 2d.; {sic woad is meant}
each 2,000 of garlic or onions, 1/2d.;
each bale of cordwain, 3d.;
each hundred boards, 1/2d.;
each millstone, 1/2d.;
each hundred of faggots, 1/4d.;
each 1,000 turfs, 1/4;
each cart load of logs or timber, by the week, 1/2d.;
each hundred of tin, brass, and copper, 2d.;
each sack of wool, 2d.;
each cartload of tan by the week, 1d.;
of avoirdupois, to wit, of the hundred, 1d.;
and from any kind of merchandise not named here of the value of 5s., , 1/4d.
