Stafford (Stafford) was given a grant of murage dated 21/5/1226.

This was in the form of:-

De claudenda villa Saloppesbiry et de Stafford.—Terminus concessionis quam dominus rex fecit probis hominibus de Saloppesbiry de capienda consuetudine in auxilium ville sue firmande, prolongatur a die Sancti Johannis Baptiste anno etc. x usque ad festum Sancti Michaelis anno xj, in eadem forma qua prime litere fuerunt.
Teste ut supra. {Teste rege, apud Westmonasterium, xxj die Maii, anno eodern. Per ipsum regem, coram justiciario.}
Eodem modo terminus concessionis quam probi homines de Stafford habent de consuetudine capienda ad villam suam de Stafford firmandam, prolongatur usque ad idem festum Sancti Michaelis anno xj a die Assumptions Beate Marie anno x, in forma qua prius habuerunt aliam concessionern.
