Oxford (Oxonie) was given a grant of murage dated 1/10/1233.

De quercubus datis.—Mandatum est eidem P. quod in foresta de Brehull' per diversa loca, sicut capi poterunt ad minus nocumentum foreste capi poterunt (sic), faciat habere probis hominibus Oxonie c. quercus ad gistandum turellas muri circum villam Oxonie, et planchias faciendas ad easdem turellas. Teste ut supra. Per ipsum regem. {Teste rege apud Oxoniam, j. die Octobris.}

Comments
'Between 1226 and 1240 the walls were thoroughly overhauled and the remaining sections of rampart replaced by stone. The king gave firewood for lime kilns and hurdle platforms between 1226 and 1231, and oak joists and planks for turrets and bastions in 1233.' (VCH)
