The like to Hugh de Lonther, Adam de Middelton, and John de Donecastre, on complaint by the abbot of St. Mary's, York, that, although by the charters of his house and their confirmation by the king, he and the men of his house are exempt from toll, murage, pontage and pavage throughout the realm, and also from providing carriage, Nicholas le Flemyng, mayor of the city of York, Thomas le Nedeler, William de Graham, Robert de Wykestowe, Robert le Mek, John de Askham, Andrew de Bolingebroke, Thomas de Redenesse, John de Sexdecim Vallibus, Thomas de Appelby, Simon le Sherman, Hugh son of Nicholas de Seleby, Robert de Seleby the elder, Gilbert Arnal, John de Graham, Roger de Roston, Robert de Lyndeseye, John de Botercram, John Aunsel, William de Redenesse, Ranulph de Catton, Richard de Bylburgh, William de Quyxleye, Roger de Creket, Nicholas de Dunolm, Alan le Bedel, Adam de Brumpton, John son of (Germain le Orfevre, William Waselyn, and William de la Lathes with other bailiffs and ministers of the city of York with intent to infringe upon and render void the liberties of his house distrained upon his men coming to the city of York for toll, murage, pontage and pavage, and also carriage, hindered his men coming to the city to buy victuals for him and the convent, compelled his men staying within his liberty to Bouthum to contribute together with the commonalty of the city to divers aids, tallages, and contributions assessed upon the same commonalty, took away the goods of his men and tenants found there, did not allow them to replevy the same, and committed other outrages.
