Chester was given a grant of murage dated 15/2/1358.

This was in the form of:-

Wording
Order to Master John de Brunham, the prince's clerk and chamberlain of Cestre, to cause the necessary letters patent to be made out under the seal in his keeping in execution of a grant by the prince to the mayor and citizens of Cestre of murage for five years in aid of the repair of the walls and towers of their city which are said to be broken in part and ruinous.
