Bayonne was given a grant of murage dated 18/11/1245.

This was in the form of:-

Wording
Liberate to Raymond Arnaldi 50l. for the good men of Bayonne, of the 200l. granted to them in aid of the fortification of their town. For the 50l. (sic) still due they have the king's letters patent for payment at the Easter Exchequer.

Granted by Henry III. (Regnal year 30). Granted at Woodstock.
