Bordeaux (Burdegale) was given a grant of murage dated 12/11/1224.

This was in the form of:-

De denariis liberandis Willelmo Scissori. Rex constabulario Porecestre, salutem. Mandamus vobis quod quadringentas et quinquaginta marcas que vobis remanserunt de quingentis libris, que fuerunt in custodia vestra, de quibus liberastis Willelmo de Haverhull et Willelmo scissori nostro cc libras, ad negocia nostra facienda in nundinis Wintonie proximo preteritis, sine dilatione liberetis Bernardo de Acra et socio suo, burgensibus Burdegale. Liberetis etiam eisdem quingentas et l marcas quas vobis misimus per Hugonem de Plessy, Drogonem de Barentyn, Nicholaum de Bolevill, et Gerardum de Lungbersal, ad perficiendum duo milia marcas quas dedimus probis hominibus Burdegale ad villam suam firmandam, et eorum sustentationem in servicio nostro. Teste ut supra, anno ix. {Teste rege, apud Westmonasterium, xij die Novembris.}
