burgesses of Bere (de Bere) was granted an exemption from murage dated 22/11/1284.

Wording
To archbishops, etc. Notification that the king has granted that his town of Bere shall be a free borough {etc. as in _Archaeologia Cambrensis,_ iv, p. 214 ; _Calendar of Charter Rolls,_ ii, p. 280}. Witnesses : R. bishop of Bath and Wells, the chancellor, William de Valencia, the king's uncle, Richard de Burgo, earl of Ulster, John de Vescy, Otto de Grandisono, Robert Tibotot, Richard de Brus, Robert son of John, and John de Monte Alto. {Prynne, _Records,_ iii, p. 350.}

Pro burgensibus de Bere de libertatibus eis concessis.
Rex archiepiscopis etc. salutem. Sciatis quod volumus et concedimus pro nobis et heredibus nostris quod villa nostra de Bere de cetero liber burgus sit etc. etc. as Conway mutatis mutandis … Et quod burgenses nostri praedicti non convincantur per aliquos forinsecos super aliquibus appellis - etc. etc. … impositis aut imponendis a ripa de Aberman usque ad ripam de Devy set solummodo per burgenses nostros praedictos nisi - etc. etc. in civitate nostra Herefordiae. Quare, etc. Hiistestibus, venerabili patre Roberto Bathoniensi et Wellensi episcopo, cancellario nostro; Willelmo de Valencia avuncule nostro; Ricardo de Burgo, comite Ultoniae; Johanne de Vescy, Ottone de Grandisono, Roberto Tibotot, Ricardo de Brus, Roberto filio Johannis, Johanne de Monte Alto, et aliis.
