Prees Manor of Bishop of Coventry and Lichfield has been described as a probable Palace.

There are no visible remains.

Description

Residential manor of the Bishop of Coventry and Lichfield.
Comments

Abandoned in 1450 and materials used to repair the other episcopal palaces. The bishops had a grant of free warren for numerous named manors, including Preess in 1259, which does suggested a residence here at that time, although it may have been a privilege obtained for the manor steward.
The form of the manor house is unknown although the complete lack of remains might suggest a unfortified timber building.
The given map reference is for the parish church which, by analogue, the manor house was likely to have been adjacent.

The possible site or monument is represented on maps as a point location. This is a guide only. It should be noted that OS grid references defines an area, not a point location. In practice this means the actual center of the site or monument may often, but not always, be to the North East of the point shown. Locations derived from OS grid references and from latitude longitiude may differ by a small distance.
Further information on mapping and location can be seen at this link.
